For nine years (2011-2020) I served as an EMT-B and NAEMSE Lead Instructor. I started in the Peoria Area Emergency Medical System running mostly rural calls and taking shifts in downtown Peoria, Illinois on occasion. After a short time in this position, I served as the Assistant Chief of a rural ambulance in Roanoke, Illinois, where I helped build an all-volunteer agency into a professionally paid staff. I designed and taught professional development courses in Emergency Medicine focusing on education in rural EMS agencies.

Working with data from the Illinois Department of Public Health, I created a stochastic probability model to improve training for EMS personnel by using historical data to determine the most likely 911 calls providers might encounter. This allowed us to prioritize the training that would make the most impact in our community and save lives. During this time I was trained and served as a Mass Casualty Incident instructor and designed response plans for Mass Casualty Incidents such as active shooters, terrorist bombings/suicide bombings, tornadoes, and other emergencies. After moving into the Illinois Region 4 Emergency Medical System to be closer to family, I began working for Holy Family Hospital as a hospital-based EMT and ER Tech. I left that position to concentrate more on my work with ABEL Media Inc.
